"If asked to describe my experience with Dr. Culbertson, I would have to say - life changing. She truly has changed my life for the better, and I am so thankful..."

I had Hidradenitis suppurativa for 25 years before I met Dr. Culbertson. I had multiple surgeries over the years. About 15 months ago, I went to another surgeon referred by my dermatologist. The surgeon was great and helped me with my current flare-up, but also took the time to refer me to someone whome he said, "Specializes in HS patients". I quickly made an appointment with Dr. Culbertson's office. It was an hour drive from my house but I was so excited to have found someone who may actually be knowledgeable and concerned about my disease.

When I met Dr. Culbertson, I was very impressed. She was friendly and easy to talk to. She was very positive and seemed knowledgeable about HS and the lifestyle changes the disease has on people. We discussed plans for surgery to remove affected tissue and scars. We discussed using VAC therapy after surgery to aid in the healing of the incisions and to reduce the chances of infection. The VAC would also be more comfortable than changing dressings every day. The surgery planned seemed very extensive, but I was so excited to try.

Since my initial visit to Dr. Culbertson's office, I have had three surgeries. The first was the most extensive. The first week after the surgery was the most difficult, and at times a bit overwhelming, but Dr. Culbertson was very calming and reassuring.

Dr. Culbertson likes to follow up with her patients at the Wound Care Center at the hospital. My first appointment at the Wound Care Center was 2 hours long - to remove my VAC, retention sutures and to replace the VAC, but when I left there I felt like a new person. The staff at the Wound Care Center is great. Everyone is knowledgeable and very focused on patient privacy and comfort. My other two surgeries were not nearly as difficult, but I still received the same quality of care and individual attention.

When I think about all that has happened during the past year, I get a little tearful. I now am not wearing any dressings for the first time in over five years and have the best looking scars I've ever had. Dr. Culbertson is an amazing physician, she is not afraid to be inventive or to think outside of the box. She welcomes suggestions from her patients and others. She is willing to be creative and do what works best for each individual situation.

If asked to describe my experience with Dr. Culbertson, I would have to say - life changing. She truly has changed my life for the better, and I am so thankful.

"I have to tell you that my confidence has increased 100 percent from the surgery and I thank you for that..."

Dr. Culbertson,

As you know about 11 years ago I had a major accident, which a lot of Doctors stated that I'm lucky to be walking today. Over the past 11 years I've worked hard in physical therapy and also worked hard to overcome the mental issues that came from the accident.

From the accident I not only had a major scar but also had a deformity from the surgery to save the muscle over my shin. About three years ago you completed surgery on the scar to help diminish the appearance of the scar.

I was happy with the plastic surgery that you completed, however I still wanted to have the muscle over my shin taken care of. At the time several Doctors including yourself told me that there was nothing that could be done to correct the problem with the muscle. From all the information that I received from the Doctors I finally gave up.

I can remember it as if it was yesterday when I was in the locker room at the Gym, when someone stated to me "OH MY GOD, (name) what did you do to your shin?" which another gentleman stated "It looks like your shin is pregnant". From that time on I was going to find a doctor if I had to go to California. In January 2009 I called your office to start the process of finding a way to correct my problem. After our visit together you stated that new technology was available and that you could fix the problem with my leg. I have to tell you that was the best news that I received over the last 11 years.

I believe the surgery was scheduled on April 28, 2009 and it's been six months from the surgery and the scar looks good and the procedure that you completed looks great. I have to tell you that my confidence has increased 100 percent from the surgery and I thank you for that.

"Just a note to say thanks for all your skill and compassion in treating my mother's wounds..."

Dear Dr. Culbertson,

Just a note to say thanks for all your skill and compassion in treating my mother's wounds. From the very first appointment you became one of her favorite people. Your gentle humor and healing touch were comforting to us both.

I'm sorry for the difficulty in processing the claim with Medicare. They can make things very complicated.

Thank you again for all your help. Blessings.

Sincerely,

Cheryl Hellner

"I've never met a doctor who made it so easy to understand or trust..."

Dr. Tracey A. Culbertson,

I would like to say that you and your staff are extremely friendly, outgoing and very understanding. Dr. Culbertson, you're a very upbeat and energetic person. You have a wonderful personality for what you do. The first time my boyfriend and I met you, you made us feel very comfortable. We instantly had confidence in you. You take your profession to a new level (in a good way). I've never met a doctor who made it so easy to understand or trust. I like how you helped me find doctors to further my care after my surgery. Not too many doctors do that. There are so many wonderful things that I could say about you and your staff, it's amazing. I've told numerous people about you and the work you do. I can't do that with too many doctors. Overall I love your work and your office and if for any reason I can come back to you, I would love to.

Thank you so very much,
Lindsay Sulima

"I highly recommend seeking wound care and/or surgery from Dr. Tracey Culbertson...."

After undergoing lumbar spine surgery in Pennsylvania in August 2011, I continued with aftercare for several weeks. The result was stalled healing that caused my wound/incision to become chronic. My caregivers were not concerned.

I found Dr. Culbertson and the Frederick Memorial Hospital Wound Care Center on-line. Dr. Culbertson determined that my rate of healing was not acceptable and did not accept the status quo that prevailed under the after care of the spine surgeon. During debridement surgery by Dr. Culbertson, she discovered that an ulcer was growing beneath my wound! Under her care and after nine weeks attached to a wound vacuum, my wound has reached 95% healing (January 2012).

I highly recommend seeking wound care and/or surgery from Dr. Tracey Culbertson.

"A huge thank you goes out to Dr. Culbertson for being so wonderful and her staff also..."

It is a true blessing to have Dr. Culbertson as my physician.

I first started coming to Dr. Culbertson to have some moles and other spots removed. My sister had referred me to her. Her words were "you will really like her, she is great" and that she is!!!!!

At my first visit I gave her my medical history along with the many abdominal surgeries that I have had over the years and all the pain that I had due to the adhesions from those surgeries. She told me after an exam that she felt that she could fix this problem.

So the first part of April I had my surgery and along with fixing that problem she also found that I had a hernia and she is the only one that found it. I feel so much better thanks to Dr. Culbertson.

She is a wonderful, caring person and doctor. I am so thankful to have her as my doctor. And before I end, I need to tell everyone how great her office staff is also, they are very caring and always there to help in any way they can. They are the cream of the crop, and even though I am thankful to be so much better I will miss their smiling faces and wonderful attitude about life and helping others. A huge thank you goes out to Dr. Culbertson for being so wonderful and her staff also.

Thank you again,
J.A.

"My experience with Dr. Culbertson has been nothing short of amazing..."

My experience with Dr. Culbertson has been nothing short of amazing. Dr. Culbertson's cheery demeanor and warm smile makes you feel completely comfortable upon first meeting her. You can immediately tell she's passionate about her profession and truly sees the person, not just the condition. Dr. Culbertson's dedication to my case outside of our appointments was clearly evident as she would have new information after engaging multiple experts to ensure proper treatment. I would not only recommend friends and family to Dr. Culbertson, I would insist on it.

"I am deeply grateful to Dr. Culbertson and the staff at the FMH wound Care Center for their skill and patience..."

I contacted Dr. Culbertson because I had a post-operative abdominal wound that would not heal even after 6 month post-op. My surgeons at a large teaching hospital in Baltimore believed that since absorbable sutures were used suture rejection was not the issue.

Dr. Culbertson realized that in the presence of infection even absorbable suture might not be absorbed and were in fact the cause of my poor would healing. Following the removal of the suture material by Dr. Culbertson my wound quickly healed.

I am deeply grateful to Dr. Culbertson and the staff at the FMH wound Care Center for their skill and patience.

"She was friendly, warm, professional, and took as much time as I needed to discuss all of the options..."

Deciding to have breast augmentation surgery was not an easy decision for me. I had wanted to have this surgery for many years, but was apprehensive about the procedure. I visited another local doctor and was not comfortable with the initial visit. Seeking other doctors in this area I came across Dr. Culbertson. From the moment I entered the office I felt comfortable. The office staff was welcoming and helped to put me at ease. From my first visit with Dr. Culbertson I knew that if I chose to have the surgery I wanted her to perform it. She was friendly, warm, professional, and took as much time as I needed to discuss all of the options. She intently listened to what I wanted which was very important to me. I am happy to say that my surgery gave me the exact results I was looking for. It has been one year since my surgery and I am extremely glad that I decided to go ahead with it and that Dr. Culbertson performed it. Thank you Dr. Tracey!
